TEXAS — In case you missed it, in a story published by the Texan, Texas Congressman Troy Nehls slammed Colin Allred for barely working on the FAA Act despite being a member on the House Committee of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Rep. Nehls states, “Unfortunately, one of my Texas colleagues on the other side of the aisle is hardly ever seen, despite the importance of the legislation we are passing for not only Texans but for Americans.”
The article also highlighted Senator Cruz’s pivotal role in the drafting and passing of the FAA Act of 2024, which secured a direct flight from SAT to DCA — a massive win for San Antonio and Texas.

President Joe Biden has signed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2024 into law.
Along with adding five additional flights into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) — allowing a direct route between San Antonio and the District of Columbia — the legislation expands air traffic controller training, requires flight carriers to provide a full refund upon request to passengers who hold a nonrefundable ticket for a canceled or significantly delayed flight, and updates to safety standards.
The bipartisan support for the bill was celebrated by lawmakers from across the political spectrum.
“Our bipartisan bill ensures the country’s aviation system meets the very real challenges of today,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said in a statement.
“Our bill will make flying safer, improve customer satisfaction, and bring about the next generation of aviation technology. I am proud of the strong bipartisan support our bill has received, and I look forward to its swift enactment so Texas’ thriving aviation industry can begin to take full advantage of the new law.”
Cruz is the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX-32), who is challenging Cruz to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate, also touted the passing of the FAA Reauthorization Act, saying, “As a member of the Transportation Committee, I am proud of our bipartisan work to get this across the finish line.”

Nehls also took time to lambast Allred, one of the two other Texans serving on the committee.
“Unfortunately, one of my Texas colleagues on the other side of the aisle is hardly ever seen, despite the importance of the legislation we are passing for not only Texans but for Americans.”
Nehls and Allred are both members of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
