Rebuilding and Expanding Texas Infrastructure
- Ted visited with victims and volunteers when Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas and then authored the federal law that gave tax relief to storm survivors.
- Ted worked in a bipartisan way to designate the Interstate 14 extension as a high priority project—a big win for the Permian Basin region.
- Ted led bipartisan efforts to designate the I-27 Ports-to-Plains corridor as a “Future Interstate.” This allows Texas to receive additional federal funds to complete I-27’s expansion.
- Ted’s Coastal Texas Program legislation became law. Known as the “Coastal Spine” or “Ike Dike,” his law ensures that coastal Texans are better protected from major storms.
- Ted visited each community impacted by Hurricane Harvey many, many times in the weeks and months that followed the disaster.
- Ted authored numerous successful relief bills in the Senate to increase the funds available to hurricane victims and increased the overall amount of funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood prevention projects, as well as for funding other mitigation activities under the Community Development Block Grant and the Disaster Recovery program.
