AUSTIN—Ted Cruz for Senate will begin airing two 60-second radio ads statewide across Texas today, the campaign announced. The new ads highlight Cruz’s proven conservative record and are the campaign’s first paid media buy of the 2012 primary race.
“Conservatives across Texas are energized by Ted’s campaign, and the more they hear his message, the more it resonates,” said James Bernsen, the campaign’s communications director. “Texans want a conservative fighter with a proven record of standing for conservative values and winning at the national level. They don’t want timid, career politicians who won’t stand up to the Obama administration.”
One of the new ads, “Delivered,” highlights Cruz’s proven record of fighting for conservative principles, specifically defending U.S. sovereignty and standing up for three million veterans. The other ad, “Fighter,” emphasizes Cruz’s family history of fleeing oppression in Cuba. Ted’s father fought against the oppressive Batista regime before he fled to Texas in 1957.
“Ted has made the fight for liberty his life work because he knows what the alternative is,” Bernsen said. “He will lead the fight to repeal Obamacare, cut spending to reduce our deficit, push a balanced budget amendment, and turn back the incredible proliferation of new regulations and mandates that are strangling our economy and stifling job creation.”
As Texas Solicitor General, Ted successfully represented Texas before the U.S. Supreme Court in Medellin v. Texas, which upheld U.S. sovereignty and held that the World Court cannot bind the U.S. justice system and the President cannot order the state courts to obey the World Court.
More recently, Cruz successfully represented over three million veterans before the U.S. Supreme Court in Salazar v. Buono, defending the constitutionality of the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial, which was erected in 1934 to honor WWI veterans. Along with co-counsel Kelly Shackelford of the Liberty Institute, Cruz represented as amici The American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the American Ex-Prisoners of War. In April 2010, the Supreme Court handed down a 5-4 decision in favor of the veterans.
Since entering the Republican primary in January 2011, Cruz’s campaign has built remarkable momentum. He has unified conservative leaders across Texas and nationally, has beaten every major candidate in 20 consecutive straw polls, and has raised over $4 million. Among his public endorsements are: Cathie Adams, David Barton, George P. Bush, Dr. James Dobson, Senator Jim DeMint, Tim Lambert, Mark Levin, Senator Rand Paul, George Strake, Club for Growth, FreedomWorks, Young Conservatives of Texas, Kelly Shackelford, and Tea Party Express. In addition, the campaign is publicly supported by over 200 Republican Women leaders across Texas.

When the World Court, the United Nations and 93 foreign countries tried to overrule a Texas jury’s decision to execute an illegal alien for the brutal rape and murder of two teenage girls, the State of Texas sent Ted Cruz to the United States Supreme Court to be our voice, to fight for our right to administer justice without interference from the U.N. and he delivered.
When atheists tore down a cross meant to honor the sacrifice of American soldiers in war, over three million veteran fighters chose Ted Cruz to defend their rights, and he delivered.
Our values are under siege. President Obama and establishment politicians from both parties have broken promises, driven us to the brink of bankruptcy and failed to secure our border. Politicians make promises in the quest for power, leaders deliver results that empower individuals.
Ted Cruz – a proven conservative leader who delivers results. Choose Cruz for U.S. Senate.

He comes from a family of fighters — born of oppression and nurtured in freedom. His father lost his freedom in Cuba to a dictator — he fought back, and paid a heavy price: imprisoned and tortured nearly to death, he escaped in 1957 to the freedom of America.
As a child, Ted Cruz’s father, would ask, “When I lost my freedom in Cuba, I had a place to flee. If we lose our freedoms here, where will we go?” When atheists tore down a religious cross honoring American military veterans, Ted Cruz fought for the rights of over three million veterans and won. When the United Nations tried to overturn a Texas jury’s verdict to execute an illegal alien who had raped and murdered two teenage girls, Cruz fought the U.N. all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and won.
Conservative Republican Ted Cruz: a proven fighter for freedom and liberty, because his family knows what it means to lose it. Choose Cruz for U.S. Senate.
