AUSTIN, Texas—Ted Cruz for Senate announced endorsements today from Tim Lambert, President of the Texas Home School Coalition, and Michael Farris, Chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association, providing a boost with the support of an extensive statewide home school network. Lambert, also a former RNC Committeeman, will serve on the Cruz Statewide Leadership Team, and Farris will serve on the National Leadership Team.

“Ted Cruz has the kind of record and ability rarely seen in a candidate for high office,” Tim Lambert said. “Ted has been a national leader defending school choice and parental rights for over a decade, and I know that we can count on him to continue to be a relentless advocate of educational choice and freedom. Ted is a man of integrity and conviction. I’m proud to stand with Ted Cruz and to encourage home school families across the state to actively support his campaign.”

Michael Farris said: “I’m incredibly impressed with Ted’s strong record of defending the Constitution and protecting family values. In addition, he has been one of the leading advocates in the Nation before the U.S. Supreme Court defending religious liberty. Ted stands with home schoolers, and he will tirelessly fight for the rights of parents to direct the education of their children as their conscience and faith dictate. We need his voice and leadership in the U.S. Senate to promote individual liberty.”

There are approximately 120,000 home school families in Texas. Most of them are highly involved in the political process, volunteering on campaigns across the state.

The Texas Home School Coalition promotes home schooling in Texas by providing information and support for individuals, training and support for leaders, and various other functions and activities to advance home education. Their advocacy arm lobbies the government on issues related to parental rights and the right to teach children at home. And the PAC supports candidates who are committed to protecting the rights of home school families in Texas.

Cruz has also been endorsed by Club for Growth PAC, FreedomWorks PAC, Tea Party favorite U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, national radio powerhouse Mark Levin, President of Liberty Institute Kelly Shackelford, President of WallBuilders David Barton, long-time taxpayer advocated Peggy Venable, former RNC Committeeman Ernie Angelo, Madison Project, Judge Paul Pressler III, conservative leader Robert P. George, and former U.S. Attorney General under President Reagan Ed Meese.

AUSTIN, Texas—Conservatives continue to unite around Ted Cruz’s campaign for U.S. Senate. Peggy Venable, long-time taxpayer advocate, and Ernie Angelo, former RNC Committeeman, added their strong support today to a growing list of endorsements for the Cruz campaign. Both Venable and Angelo are joining Cruz’s Statewide Leadership Team.

“I’ve worked side-by-side with with Ted for years fighting to defend limited government and economic liberty. Ted Cruz is by far the most qualified candidate in the Texas Senate race to defeat the Obama Agenda and defend free-market principles,” Venable said. “Our nation is on the brink of fiscal disaster. Ted has proven again and again that he can fight for conservative principles and win. This is a serious fight, and Ted is exactly who we need right now to lead the fight to stand up for states’ rights, limited government, and fiscal responsibility.”

Ernie Angelo said: “Ted Cruz is the future of the Republican Party. He can articulate a conservative vision in a way that’s sorely lacking in today’s political landscape. I’m confident he will become an immediate national leader and make Texas proud. I urge my conservative friends across the state to unite around Ted’s candidacy.”

Venable has worked in public policy and grassroots campaigns—in government, the political arena and the private sector—for more than 30 years. She has served as a taxpayer advocate in Texas for 15 years and worked in the administration of President Ronald Reagan.

Ernie Angelo has been a Republican leader in Texas for decades. He served as RNC Committeeman for 20 years. He was co-chairman of Ronald Reagan’s presidential primary campaign in 1976 and chairman of his presidential primary campaign in 1980, and also served as Mayor of Midland.

Cruz has also been endorsed by Tea Party favorite U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, Club for Growth PAC, FreedomWorks PAC, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, national radio heavyweight Mark Levin, President of Liberty Institute Kelly Shackelford, President of WallBuilders David Barton, Judge Paul Pressler III, Madison Project, and former U.S. Attorney General under President Reagan Ed Meese.

In addition, the Cruz campaign has recently gained national attention, including in a column by syndicated columnist George Will, entitled: “In Ted Cruz, a candidate as good as it gets.” Will wrote: “For conservatives seeking reinforcements for Washington’s too-limited number of limited-government constitutionalists, it can hardly get better than this…” Cruz was also featured recently by National Journal, Fox Business, The Daily Caller and National Review.

David Barton, Paul Pressler Endorse Cruz for Senate

June 13th, 2011

Barton calls Cruz a “leading national champion of the Constitution and the Tenth Amendment.” Pressler says Cruz has “spent a lifetime fighting to defend conservative principles, winning at a national level”

AUSTIN, Texas—Ted Cruz for Senate announced Monday two more endorsements and additions to the Statewide Leadership Team — David Barton and Judge Paul Pressler III.

Pressler said Cruz is a “deeply principled conservative” and urged all conservatives to support him. Barton called Cruz a “leading national champion of the Constitution and the Tenth Amendment.”

“I’ve known Ted Cruz for years; he’s a good friend and a deeply principled conservative,” Judge Pressler said. “Ted graduated from Second Baptist High School in Houston, and he’s spent a lifetime fighting to defend conservative principles and winning at a national level.”

Judge Pressler added: “Ted has a proven record of defending life, defending marriage, defending the Ten Commandments, defending the Pledge of Allegiance, and defending U.S. sovereignty. I’m proud to enthusiastically support Ted Cruz for U. S. Senate, and I urge all other conservatives to do the same.”

David Barton said: “One of the most exciting elements of the Tea Party movement is the renewed focus on the Constitution and America’s Founding Principles. And Ted Cruz is a leading national champion of the Constitution and the Tenth Amendment. He’s got a backbone — something rare among politicians — and he will fight every day to defend free-market principles and restore our Founding principles.”

Barton added: “The threat to liberty has never been greater, and no other current or potential candidate in the Senate race has demonstrated the proven ability to fight for conservative values and win on a national level. I’m enthusiastic about Ted’s candidacy because he will help fill the urgent need for more constitutional conservatives who will fight to preserve America as a Shining City on a Hill.”

Judge Pressler was elected to the Texas House of Representatives, practiced law, served as state district judge and justice of the Texas Court of Appeals, and was appointed to positions by Governor Bill Clements and President George H.W. Bush.

In addition, Judge Pressler was First Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, and serves or has served on a number of boards including Coalitions for America, the Council for National Policy, National Religious Broadcasters, Salem Communications, and Criswell College, among others.

David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America’s forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage.

Barton is the author of numerous best-selling books, with the subjects being drawn largely from his massive library of tens of thousands of original writings from the Founding Era. He also addresses well over 400 groups each year.

“Judge Paul Pressler has been a leader and champion for Christian conservatives across Texas and the nation,” Cruz said. “It is a tremendous honor to have his support as we fight together to preserve the Constitution and our Nation’s founding principles.”

“During President Obama’s tenure, we have seen the Constitution attacked like never before in this country,” Cruz added. “I’m grateful for David Barton’s endorsement – he’s a true warrior for liberty — and I am honored to work alongside him and countless other conservatives as we fight to protect the Constitution and defeat the Obama Agenda.”

Cruz has also been endorsed by Tea Party favorite U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, Club for Growth PAC, FreedomWorks PAC, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, Madison Project, national radio heavyweight Mark Levin, President of Liberty Institute Kelly Shackelford, and former U.S. Attorney General under President Reagan Ed Meese.

Join Conservative Stalwarts Shackelford, Meese

June 9th, 2011

More terrific news for the campaign!

Today, Kelly Shackelford and The Honorable Edwin Meese III both endorsed our campaign based on a proven conservative record, strong grassroots support across the state, and ability to win.

Shackelford, who is President of Liberty Institute, will serve as Chairman of our Statewide Leadership Team and Meese, former U.S. Attorney General under President Ronald Reagan, will serve as Chairman of our National Leadership Team.

These are two stalwarts of the conservative movement. Shackelford is one of the most trusted conservative leaders in Texas and General Meese has spent a lifetime keeping President Reagan’s legacy of conservative principles alive in public debate and discourse.

I have a special request today — would you please join Kelly Shackelford and General Meese today and sign up here to volunteer on our team?

Here’s Kelly’s very kind comment: “Ted Cruz is the only candidate for Senate with a proven record of standing up and fighting for conservative principles and winning on a national level. When it comes to defending the Constitution, individual liberty and other Tea Party values, no other candidate has a record nearly as strong as Ted Cruz. It would be tragic for conservatives to split their vote in Texas, making way for a moderate to win. Fortunately, conservatives are uniting. Ted Cruz is a true warrior for liberty, and I encourage all conservatives across Texas to continue to unite around his campaign. Once elected, Ted will become a national star and leader immediately.”

And General Meese said this: “I’ve known Ted Cruz for over a decade, and he’s a strong, principled conservative in the tradition of Ronald Reagan. We need serious leadership in the U.S. Senate to stop the Obama agenda. Ted will lead the fight alongside Senators Jim DeMint, Mike Lee and Marco Rubio.”

In addition to Shackelford and Meese, we’ve been endorsed by Tea Party favorite Senator Mike Lee, the Madison Project, the Club for Growth PAC, FreedomWorks PAC, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, and national radio heavyweight Mark Levin.

We’re building a grassroots army of people in every county across the state to stand up and help us defend free-market principles, preserve the Constitution and defeat the Obama Agenda.

Will you join our fight today by signing up to volunteer here?

AUSTIN, Texas—Kelly Shackelford, President and CEO of Liberty Institute, and The Honorable Edwin Meese III, former U.S. Attorney General under President Ronald Reagan, announced today that they are both endorsing Ted Cruz’s campaign for U.S. Senate based on his proven conservative record, strong grassroots support across the state, and ability to win. In addition, the Cruz campaign announced that Shackelford will serve as Chairman of its Statewide Leadership Team and Meese will serve as Chairman of its National Leadership Team.

“Ted Cruz is the only candidate for Senate with a proven record of standing up and fighting for conservative principles and winning on a national level,” Shackelford said. “Others may say the right things in a Republican primary in Texas, but Ted has shown again and again by action that we can trust him to be a true conservative leader in Washington.”

Gen. Meese said: “I’ve known Ted Cruz for over a decade, and he’s a strong, principled conservative in the tradition of Ronald Reagan. We need serious leadership in the U.S. Senate to stop the Obama agenda. Ted will lead the fight alongside Senators Jim DeMint, Mike Lee and Marco Rubio.”

Shackelford added: “Ted is the rare candidate who combines the ability to relentlessly and effectively defend the Constitution, articulate our conservative principles, and mount a strong campaign all across Texas. I’m proud to stand behind him wholeheartedly.”

Meese holds the Ronald Reagan Chair in Public Policy at The Heritage Foundation, where he is responsible for keeping the late President’s legacy of conservative principles alive in public debate and discourse.

Meese also is Chairman of Heritage’s Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, founded in 2001 to educate government officials, the media, and the public about the Constitution, legal principles, and how they affect public policy.

Shackelford is one of the most trusted conservative leaders in Texas. Fighting on the front lines of many conservative battles throughout the years, Shackelford recently defended the King Street Patriots in Houston in their efforts to crack down on voter fraud. In addition, he defended the right of a Tea Party activist in the Fort Worth area to display a sign outside a polling location. He is also representing Hannah Giles in her high-profile case to expose ACORN corruption.

“When it comes to defending the Constitution, individual liberty and other Tea Party values, no other candidate has a record nearly as strong as Ted Cruz,” Shackelford said. “It would be tragic for conservatives to split their vote in Texas, making way for a moderate to win. Fortunately, conservatives are uniting. Ted Cruz is a true warrior for liberty, and I encourage all conservatives across Texas to continue to unite around his campaign. Once elected, Ted will become a national star and leader immediately.”

Cruz and Shackelford have worked side by side on many conservative fights. Together, they successfully defended the Texas Ten Commandments Monument, the Pledge of Allegiance, the Texas Moment of Silence law, and the federal Partial Birth Abortion Act.

Most recently, Ted and Kelly successfully represented more than four million veterans before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case defending the constitutionality of the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial. In Salazar v. Buono, Ted and Kelly represented The American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the American Ex-Prisoners of War, in defense of a 75-year-old memorial to World War I veterans that was under attack by the ACLU. And they won 5-4.

Shackelford is a constitutional expert who has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, has testified in Congress on constitutional issues, and has won numerous landmark First Amendment and religious liberty cases before the Texas Supreme Court. This year, he was named one of the 25 greatest Texas Lawyers in the past quarter-century by Texas Lawyer Magazine. He has also taken a leading national role in defending school prayer and other cases of religious expression in public places, including the important so called “Candy Cane” case, as well as defending marriage between one man and one woman.

“There are few people I’d rather have in a foxhole with me when defending liberty than Kelly Shackelford,” Cruz said. “He has fought tirelessly for over a decade to preserve the Constitution and America’s founding principles. I’m deeply grateful for Kelly’s support of our campaign to take back our federal government and restore it to the people.”

“Attorney General Meese is a hero to the conservative movement,” Cruz said. “For decades, he served by President Reagan’s side, as a stalwart defender of limited government, individual liberty, and the Constitution. I am humbled and honored to have General Meese’s support, and I look forward to continue working with him to preserve American Exceptionalism and our Nation’s legacy as a ‘Shining City on a Hill.’”

In addition to Shackelford and Meese, Cruz has also been endorsed by Tea Party favorite Senator Mike Lee, the Madison Project, the Club for Growth PAC, FreedomWorks PAC, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, and national radio heavyweight Mark Levin.

What an incredible few days for the campaign.

Conservatives are uniting. On Thursday and Friday, we received four major endorsements: Club for Growth PAC, FreedomWorks PAC, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, and conservative radio powerhouse Mark Levin!

Any one of these four on its own would have been a huge boost to the campaign, but all four in 48 hours was simply breathtaking.

It’s humbling to receive these endorsements from leaders who have fought so long and so hard for limited government, free-market principles, and the Constitution.

Will you please join these conservative forces now in supporting our campaign by contributing $10, $25, or $50?

In their endorsement announcement, Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said: “Ted Cruz will fight for economic liberty and will be a stalwart defender of the U.S. Constitution.”

Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks PAC observed, “After evaluating the candidates in this race, we believe that Ted Cruz will best serve the interests of hardworking Texas taxpayers by advocating the principles of lower taxes, less government and more individual freedom.”

Erick Erickson of RedState said, “Ted Cruz is the conservative we need in the United States Senate.”

And Mark Levin said, “We have a strong core of Constitutional conservatives in the Senate, but it needs to grow…. [Ted Cruz is] a friend of mine, and I know him to be exactly of this character.” Listen here.

It is critically important that we build on our momentum right now.

Will you please contribute $10, $25, or $50 today so we can work alongside these conservative leaders to ensure that the blessings of liberty are preserved in America?

Big News – FreedomWorks PAC Endorsement!

June 2nd, 2011

I’m honored to share some great news with you today. Our campaign has just received the endorsement of FreedomWorks PAC!

FreedomWorks, led by former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey, has been on the forefront of the Tea Party movement and leading the fight to promote limited government and fiscal responsiblity. The organization played an important role in the conservative tsunami that swept the nation in 2010, and their support will make a big difference in this race as well.

Will you join FreedomWorks PAC today in supporting our campaign to defend liberty with a contribution of just $10, $25, or $50?

In their endorsement statement, FreedomWorks PAC said our campaign is “the clear choice for limited government voters” in Texas.

FreedomWorks PAC also said they believe “Ted Cruz’s promises to protect the Constitution and fight on behalf of taxpayers against runaway government spending and the continuous erosion of our fundamental freedoms will propel him to victory in the November, 2012 election…. And his leadership in combating the big government agenda of the liberal establishment will be critical to FreedomWorks’ overarching mission to “Take America Back” on behalf of freedom.”

Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks PAC, said: “We are pleased to endorse Ted Cruz and look forward to having him join our other Champions of Freedom who made the 2010 election historic. After evaluating the candidates in this race, we believe that Ted Cruz will best serve the interests of hardworking Texas taxpayers by advocating the principles of lower taxes, less government and more individual freedom.”

I will fight every day alongside FreedomWorks to promote limited government, fiscal restraint, and individual liberty, but I can’t do it without your help and support. Please contribute $10, $25, or $50 today to ensure we have the resources necessary to win this costly Senate race.

For Liberty,

Ted Cruz
